These macarons are a vanilla shell filled with both Nutella and a Nutella frosting, then partially dipped in milk chocolate. The almond in the shell paired perfectly with the hazelnut in the Nutella to create a macaron that was richly flavored without being overwhelmingly sweet. Will definitely have to make again!
This three layer chocolate pound cake was paired with a simple vanilla buttercream, a coffee and chocolate ganache drip, and soooo many chocolate covered strawberries! It was an honor to make this birthday cake for my grandfather's 75th birthday.
A mocha sponge base with a whole lot of vanilla buttercream decorations! Floral designs are always my favorite, so it was a lot of fun to create this colorful cake.
This two-layer vanilla pound cake is paired with a whimsical peach, pink, and yellow swirl pattern in American buttercream. I loved making this cake because not only were the flavors a classic combination, but the design also allowed me to practice a variety of piping techniques.
Macarons, while extremely delicious, are also extremely hard to make in humid Richmond, Virginia! This French Macarons recipe, however, turned out to be one of the best batches yet, with a fun sprinkle-coated filling.
I just love desserts inspired by other desserts. These cupcakes were closely modeled after the classic chocolate chip cookie, with vanilla and chocolate frosting pairing nicely with cookie crumbles and a classic vanilla base.
The humidity cleared for just long enough to create a simple pink vanilla macaron shell with a lemon filling. I piped these macarons extra small so they would bake faster, and I think that technique is what allowed for the perfect little "feet" at the base of each shell. I have to remember that for next time!
This has got to be one of my favorites. Three layers of mocha pound cake with an espresso filling and vanilla frosting. I practiced side-decorating techniques with my grandmother for this one.
Heart shaped cake pans are just perfect for Valentine's Day! Sprinkles and bubblegum pink buttercream? Even more so. Not going to lie though, this all around vanilla cake disappeared much faster than we thought....
This lemon sponge cake with a light lemon flavored frosting looks great with the beautifully patterned liners that mimic the pink and green I chose for this design.
